First of all I’ll explain where we went for our first mission trip.  So on October 3 me and my squad headed to DeQuincy Louisiana to help with clean up from hurricane Laura, we were serving along side Samaritan Purse. The plan was to stay one week (till the 10) but God wanted us to do more then one week worth of work. How that all worked out was that on Friday hurricane Delta was going to hit Louisiana, so for our safety we went to Dallas Texas from the 8th to the 11th. So we had the opportunity to go back the next week and continue to serve God though that.

Just putting it out there it’s amazing how God works, because when we came back he started to do a lot of work in my heart.

To start it off on Monday and Tuesday I went with this amazing man of God (KURT) on the roofing crew to help with some difficulty roofs to tarp, and me coming from a few years of experience on the roof, and a work driven past where the goal is to get the job done as fast as possible. (Where at Samaritan’s Purse the saying is the homeowner comes first and the work second) So I was fighting with him on Monday and Tuesday, but God is a God of grace and on Wednesday morning I prayed that he would give me a homeowner to talk to and force on the mission and not just the task (tarping roofs) So Wednesday morning we get to the job and Kurt says there is no homeowner and we will be at one job all day, so I’m like aright God I have my heart in place to do your mission, so why is there no homeowner here. BUT like I sayed he is amazing and to keep it short we got to go across the street and work on a older lady house. Me and one of my teammates went in and talked to her for probably hour and a half, and just the way she spoke life into my life was like shoot God that’s what I needed to hear.
Then that night I’m tell one of the team leaders how I would love to play with a kid again. And right the next day we get to the first job we get to and who do you think is there other then a 10 year boy names Gage. Right away I’m like God your  amazing,so I got another experience just to connect with him and just love on him.

All that to said God is amazing and loves to work though you if you are willing to let him and want to encourage you if you’re going though a tough time he is there to

  1. Jason, I love how the Lord sometimes blesses us with the simple desires of our heart. It’s as if we’re surprised when He does, but it’s His great joy to do so. (Mt. 7:11) We just need to ask….and expect…and keep hearts full of gratitude to Him. Thanks for sharing how you are experiencing God, loving others well, and growing along the way.

  2. Jason so awesome to read this! I find it’s amazing when we turn our hearts and motives over to Him, we end up being blessed as well as the person we are ministering to. Excited to see God stirring in your heart; you are an amazing young man of God. Thanks for being vulnerable in sharing your experience.
